Green fingers are in the genes

Daddy P comes from a long line of Greengrocers and Florists so we decided that as Monkey is now 3 years old we should show him that vegetables don’t start life in Daddy’s cold rooms!

I also grew up with parents who had a little bit of the ‘Good Life’ going on in their back garden.  I can remember helping Dad and my brother to dig up potatoes and picking strawberries and raspberries with Mum.

Homegrown fruit and vegetables are something that both sides of Monkey’s family took as ‘normal’, and there is certainly no way we want him to grow up thinking that things just appear in our fridge or fruit bowl.

So this morning we took Monkey to our local garden centre and told him he could choose what he wanted to grow, we looked at seedlings but decided to go for it – and headed for the seed packets.  After looking at all the pictures on the numerous packets he decided on some cherry tomatoes and red peppers – no surprise really as he loves to eat both of them.  We also bought some compost and a propagator and off Monkey went with his purchases.

When we got home Monkey and Daddy P set to work planting the seeds and Monkey was very excited to get his watering can out for the first time this year.

Now the waiting begins – lets hope we can keep Monkey’s enthusiasm going 🙂 I’ll keep you posted on our progress……

Can’t wait to see how this goes. We so need to do this. Our garden is a mess but I know all too well you can grow things in anything. Even took ds2 to a growing course. We just need to get around to it. Thanks for the reminder.

Thank you for linking up with the Spring Carnival.
